The Legend of Luke by Brian Jacques

Ever wanted to read a classic-style quest book?  The Legend of Luke is here for you!  It starts with a wandering maid named Trimp.  It then goes on, showing the warriors of Redwall.  They are mashed together to go on an epic quest to find a legend...  This book is recommended for enjoyers of classic questing fiction.

Dog Man by Dav Pilkey

Funny, because of the good story.  Also because about a dog.

Life of Pi by Yann Martel

My rating for Life of Pi is 4.5.  The main reason is it is a survival fiction.  It is a great book; if I were to recommend this book to someone.  The reason I cut .5 is from page 59-79 it was the most boring parts of my life.

Animal Farm by George Orwell

The book was easy to read and made sense considering the author’s background.  I liked the extended metaphor of the various animals at the farm representing people of different classes, and thought that it had good insight into the world at the time.

Into the Wild (Warriors series) by Erin Hunter

This book was amazing. If you love animals and adventures, this book is for you. It is a fictional story about a home cat who joins the clans of wild cats. He finds himself stuck is a difficult situation, with the tensions very high with the wild cats. I loved this book, and it’s definitely a must-read.

Katt vs Dogg by James Patterson

Katt vs Dogg is one of the first books that really kept me engaged and I still love it to this day. This book is an adventurous story about how two main characters get lost in a dangerous forest and how they go from enemies to best friends! It was a funny and relatable story that I think others will love.

Racing in the Rain: My Life as a Dog by Garth Stein

I like this book because it is very eventful.  There are many life-changing events and the characters are relatable.  It is told from the perspective of a funny dog who loves his family and can do nothing but watch as their lives change drastically.

Dork Diaries: Puppy Love by Rachel Renee Russell

It's an amazing and funny book!  The plot thickens when Nikky (the main character) and one of her friends (Brandon) find 8 puppies and 1 dog to find a home.  They had to hide the puppies in their principal's office and under their beds.  In the end...well, that would be spoilers!

The Twits by Roald Dahl

I thought it was really funny.  Definitely one of my personal favorites of his books, although the animal cruelty was very sad.

Vials by Kathy Reichs

It is an interesting series for middle and high schoolers, since they are around the same age as the protagonists.  The characters are developed well and easy to relate to, despite the science fiction theme.

The Last Rabbit by Shelley Moore Thomas

The Last Rabbit is an adventure book.  The Last Rabbit is about how a rabbit named Albie reunites her sisters back in her old house.  Albie's sisters have split trying to find their dreams, so they can turn back to human.  I rate this book a 4 cause it was a really nice adventure book.

The Black Stallion by Walter Farley

Alec Ramsay is coming home from a relative in another country on a boat.  At one of the stops, a wild, unbroken stallion is loaded onto the boat.  On the way to the U.S., a storm hits, and the boat wrecks.  Alec and the stallion are stranded on an island and must survive by themselves.  The Black Stallion is a great book in the beginning of a great classic series.

Endling the Last by Katherine Applegate

I really like this book because it has a lot of action. The character starts out with a bad situation and with the help of her friends she succeeds in staying alive.

Hoot by Carl Hiaasen

Amazing. It's by the same author who wrote Scat! It's about burrowing owls and a boy in Florida and a girl (and her brother). They saved them by sabotaging an opening of a pancake house where the owls lived.

Defining Gravity by Genevieve McKay

First things first: there were MANY punctuational errors. This was unacceptable. Also, the main character Astrid didn't have very much impulse control and was too spoiled (even though she didn't want to admit it). Basically, Astrid had a stupid accident that could have been prevented. Then, she goes to work at a pricey dressage barn EVEN THOUGH SHE'S INJURED. One star is too much for this. Don't waste your time. Read Misty of Chincoteague instead.

Stone Fox by John Reynolds Gardiner

This book is amazing, has a lot of twists, and is about a boy taking a stand taking care of his grandfather and saving money for entering a race. There was a tragic accident right before he finishes the race. This is a really good book to read for any age kids.

Lily's brother, Adam, is autistic. He has been since he was two years old. Their father died in a war. Then their mother died in a car crash. Now their stepfather, Don, is the only adult in the house. Don does not like to do much about Adam's autism until they meet an injured dolphin named Nori. An amazing story about Lily and a friend trying to save Nori and Adam at the same time.
