Persepolis: The Story of a Childhood by Marjane Satrapi
Persepolis is Marjane Satrapi's graphic memoir about growing up in Iran during the Islamic Revolution. The reader watches "Marji" grow up from ages 6 to 14, and her struggle with her religion and political ideology, all while going through the normal trials of growing up. The reader learns about interesting periods of Iranian history, all while rooting for a spunky, relatable protagonist of a true story.
