The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black
A boy with horns sleeps in the forest, inside a transparent coffin. The fae dance in the forest by moonlight. Tourists come to the forest to gawk, and they disappear mysteriously soon afterwards. Hazel and Ben were the knight and the bard (but those were kids' games; they're not intrepid adventurers anymore). Then the boy with horns escapes from his coffin, and Hazel and Ben discover that they aren't playing at being knight and bard anymore.
