Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut
Slaughterhouse Five is a very unique book in the way that it mixes a war novel with science fiction. A man named Billy Pilgrim, who was in WWII, is abducted by aliens who are able to travel in time. This makes for an intriguing read. The tone is kind of depressed and flat, so don't expect it to be hilarious. It's thought provoking.
