The Almost Moon by Alice Sebold

I read The Lovely Bones and greatly enjoyed it, so I expected Sebold's third book following a similar structure would be as suspenseful and engaging. However, Almost Moon was nothing of the sort. The narrator's perspective was sickening, and the initial murder was described in gory detail and lasted for over 7 pages. After seeing how Sebold handled the topic of murder in The Lovely Bones, I was majorly disappointed by how she interpreted the same scenario in Almost Moon.
