The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton

The novel The Outsiders was an elaborate portrayal of the disputes between teens from a socially higher class and the socially neglected class.  Ponyboy, the main character, faces disputes from himself and many other people.  The plot takes off slowly but builds each individual character to the point of reality; suddenly the book is over leaving you yearning for more.
