Wired, by Robin Wasserman

A tightly-woven story that focuses on the loss of humanity, and what it really means to be human. The sequel to Skinned, this novel develops the idea of Faithers, who are anti-skinners and pro-human. The main character, Lia, feels like she has lost what it means to be human, but then discovers her humanity in the most surprising places. Each more surprising than the last, it is when Lia finds out that her make is not unique to her, and that the group she lives with, who think the "Skinners" are more superior than humans, might be keeping secrets and have an unholy connection with Biotech.
