Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys
This was an amazing book about World War II, but it's about the conflict between Russia and Germany. This offered a wonderful perspective on life in Eastern Europe during the 1940s, and some of the events (and all of the main characters) are very relatable. Although it was bittersweet, I loved the ending.
